Aïda Patricia Schweitzer is a nomadic French contemporary artist of Egyptian and Chaoui descent, who lives and works in Luxembourg. Marked by an initiatory journey to Egypt at the age of 17 in the footsteps of her maternal grandmother, she has since developed a body of work fueled by the exploration of marginalized territories and dialogue with nomadic peoples. Her visual universe brings together Mediterranean spiritualities and African mystical roots.

Rooted in a feminist and decolonial perspective, her approach examines colonial legacies as well as systems of representation and domination. Through textile installations, fiber embroidery, and the transition from hair to drawing, she weaves close links between individual histories and collective narratives. In her work, the thread emerges as both metaphorical and material: it carries memory, symbolically repairs, and recomposes fragmented trajectories. At the crossroads of Mediterranean spiritualities and African mystical roots, her universe explores our deep connection with nature, ancestors, and spirits. Through the study of esoteric traditions and their symbols, she opens a space of convergence where alterity and transcendence are fully expressed.

Her work has been featured in numerous international exhibitions. Invited twice to the Venice Biennale, she took part in a performance by Nigerian artist Jelili Atiku in 2017. In 2022, she contributed to The Milky Way catalog (cur. Olga Kisseleva), participated in the exhibition Femmes guerrières, Femmes au combat (cur. Isabelle de Maison Rouge), and was selected by Marianne Derrien for a focus on the Luxembourgish art scene. Following research and creation residencies in Cairo (2024) and Japan (2025), she exhibited at the Luxembourg Pavilion for the World Expo Osaka in 2025.
